Book Update: Call for Info

As readers of my newsletter found out last month, I’m almost done with the book I’m writing about all this. I’ve got 17 chapters, around 100,000 words, a couple hundred citations, dozens of stupid footnotes, and one very strong interest in getting the manuscript off to my publisher.

After more than two years of trying to make this happen, I’m close!

In the meantime, you can help if you choose to. My publisher is asking for lists of certain types of people to get in touch with regarding early reviews of the book and coverage once it comes out. I promise that I will pass your information along only to my publisher.

Are you the editor at a magazine, website, or similar publication related to video games or psychology that would be interested in covering the book? If so, please use the contact form to get in touch with me. Be sure to include contact information: Name, company, title/job, URL for your publication, and e-mail address.

Are you a recognized authority on psychology, video game design, video game marketing, video game criticism, or another subject related to this book? Plus are you willing to take a look at the book and provide prepublication comments for promotional purposes? If so, please use the contact form to get in touch with me. For this, include your name, e-mail address, and postal address. A brief explanation of why you are a recognized authority in this matter would help, too.

Are you a professor or other educator who might want to use the book in your class? If so, please use the contact form to get in touch with me. Include your name, your institution, what class you teach, and your e-mail address.

Are you part of an organization that might want to buy copies of the book in bulk? Examples might include bookstores, clubs, seminars, conferences, and so on. If so, please use the contact form to get in touch with me. Include your name, role in the organization, e-mail, and phone number.

So if any of the above describes you, please contact me now so I can include it with the lists I send over to my publisher.

If none of that describes you, here are some things you can always do to help:

  • Follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and RSS. If you don’t already.
  • Share a link with someone. Tweet, share on Facebook, or whatever. If you know of someone who might like this site, let them know about it.
  • Comment on the articles if you have thoughts.
  • Sign up for the newsletter to keep up to date on book availability.

I’m looking forward to turning this thing in and moving on. There’s still lots of work to do, but not so much that I’ll continue to think “I should be working on the book” every time I have five minutes of free time. I want to get back to this website, but I have plans to try something new.

Want a hint? Well, here are the most recent items from my Internet search history:

Podcasting microphone reviews
Dragon Age Inquisition sex scenes
